JACKSON, Tenn.-

With polls opening in less than 10 hours in Jackson, two of the five Jackson mayoral candidates spent Monday night rallying supporters. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News caught up with incumbent Jerry Gist as he hosted hundreds at the AIM building near downtown Jackson. Gist said on election eve, he feels confident and is anxiously awaiting the election night results. “I feel really good. We are encouraged and hopefully we will all know by tomorrow night,” said Mayor Jerry Gist. Gist is seeking a third, four-year term as Jackson City mayor. One of the other candidates challenging Gist, Lowe Finney, held a rally of his own where hundreds gathered outside the Suites of La Rue in downtown Jackson. Finney said the night is all about meeting as many residents as possible before election day. “We feel really good about the campaign and where we are and now it comes down to the last few hours and making sure people get out and vote,” said Lowe Finney. The other three candidates for mayor, James Baxter, Charlie Motton and Tim York did not host public rallies Monday night.
