Police say officer shooting started with road rage

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong says an officer’s fatal shooting of a suspect on Wednesday began with a report of road rage.

The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/10YtueY) a motorist drove to a police station to report that a man – later identified as 47-year-old Daniel Brock – was tailgating him. At a traffic light, Brock got out of his car and beat and spit on the driver’s side window while threatening to kill the driver.

Brock followed the complainant to the precinct but then took off and crashed. Brock then got out of the car and charged police.

The unidentified officer who shot Brock has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation.

It’s the fifth time this year a Memphis officer has shot and killed a person.
