Tennessee Education Lottery Educator of the Week: Callie Dollar

Dr. Callie DollarJACKSON, Tenn. — Dr. Callie Dollar teaches middle school reading and language arts at the Montessori School at Bemis and says she’s been an educator for about twelve years.

“I love learning, I love reading, and so having the opportunity to do something that I’m passionate about, and when you’re passionate about something your students will also become passionate about that as well,” Dollar said.

She said her students are fun to be around and that her favorite part is what they teach her on a daily basis.

“Kids are so funny. Just today I was asking some kids how to stream music on my phone that I paid for,” she said. “Combined, my students will always have more knowledge than I will ever have.”

Dollar also said she tries to build character and develop compassion within her classroom and likes to model that every day for her students.

“I’ve never felt more fulfilled. I’ve never felt happier, and quite honestly I’m so content doing what I’m doing.”

Dollar will now be eligible for the statewide Tennessee Education Lottery Educator of the Month award. Starting in April, to vote for her or any of the other nominees, visit seehowitaddsup.com.
