Weather Update – 8:30 p.m. Friday

Fantastic weather is in the works for this weekend with high pressure building into the Mid-South. We almost reached a record low this morning when we dropped to 41°F! The record was 40°F set in 1992. Warmer weather is ahead with a continuation of these mostly clear skies but rain is something we should monitor for next week.

Currently we are looking at quiet conditions across the midsouth with high pressure in place. We keep the high pressure for most of the weekend before we start to see clouds return along with the chance for rain as early as Monday.

TONIGHT
Clear skies will continue tonight into early Saturday morning. Winds will remain light but it won’t be quite as chilly as last night. Temperatures will bottom out in the lower to middle 50s just before sunrise at 5:57 a.m..

THIS WEEKEND
Saturday and Sunday will feature highs in the lower to middle 80s – nearly 5 degrees above average for this time of the year. Skies will remain mostly clear on Saturday with winds between 10 and 15 miles per hour, gusting to 20 mph. On Mother’s Day, conditions will remain windy at times but skies will gradually become partly cloudy by the evening. We should remain free of rainfall this weekend.

NEXT WEEK
Showers and thunderstorms will return next week with daily chances for rain from Monday through Thursday. Rainfall will be heavy at times and there appears to be a potential for most of West Tennessee to accumulate at least 1″ of rain next week. Stay with the VIPIR 7 Storm Team for the latest updates to the forecast!

Have a wonderful weekend!
