Weather Update: 5:00 PM Sunday
It has been a warm and sunny Mother’s Day across West Tennessee! I hope you were able to get out and enjoy the day because a wet patter sets up and brings back the rainy conditions this week. This afternoon high temperatures reached into the low to mid 80s but with the chance for rain returning this week, things cool back down by next weekend. By 6 o’clock this evening, we already had overcast skies but it will still stay warm overnight tonight.
Tonight skies will continue to become cloudier but the rain chances hold off until we get into early on Monday. Temps stay warm this evening because of the clouds returning. Overnight lows are expecting to fall into the low to mis 60s.
Monday, scattered showers are possible. The majority of the rain looks to ride the Mississippi River and return to the area late Monday night but not completely ruling out an isolated shower to push through. Monday won’t be a wash out by any means but you’ll want the umbrella on hand just in case.
Late Monday night into Tuesday will be the best chance for more widespread shower activity. There is a chance for a strong storm to push through overnight Monday. The threats with any of the storms will be heavy rain at time, possibly hail and strong winds. Monday and Tuesday both have a low end risk, a marginal risk, for a strong storm to develop. Rain could be heavy at times with strong winds within the thunderstorms. Stay with the VIPIR 7 Storm Team for the latest updates to the forecast!
Tuesday afternoon West Tennessee looks to get a break from the rain before more arrives going into on Wednesday.
Most of the rain this week will arrive in waves so we will get breaks from it time to time. Wednesday we could even get a break from the clouds and get some sunshine before more rain arrives late taking us into Thursday. Tuesday and Thursday this week look to be the best chance for widespread activity.
