Officers say car theft leads to manhunt in Dyer Co.

DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — Officers from multiple agencies are searching a wooded area near Sorrell Chapel Road near Highway 412 where two men wanted in a car theft reportedly fled on foot.

One of the men has since been taken into custody, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

According to the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began this afternoon with the pursuit of a stolen car out of Millington.

The car crashed in the woods off of Sorrell Chapel road, according to the sheriff’s office. Three people were reportedly in the car.

Two men fled on foot into the woods and the third occupant, a woman, was taken into custody.

A THP helicopter can be seen flying above the search area.
