Accused gunman charged with firing shot outside Jackson apartment complex
JACKSON, Tenn. — A man is facing aggravated assault and reckless endangerment charges after police say he fired a handgun during an argument outside the Allenton Heights apartment complex.
Police say Shiquer Devonte Scott fired the gun into the courtyard of the apartment complex around 1 p.m. Sunday after pointing it at a woman’s face.
There were several people including children in the courtyard at the time of the shooting, according to court papers.
Police say the incident was captured on surveillance video and that Scott could be seen wielding the gun.
Scott then hid the gun in a backpack and tried to leave the area, police say.
Scott is facing charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of a handgun.
Another man, Larry Brown, is facing charges in the incident after police say he was wearing the backpack in which police found the 9 mm TEC-9 handgun.
They say Brown ran away and left the backpack at the scene.
Brown is charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and tampering with evidence.
