Weather Update 12:30 PM Friday
A few pockets of light sprinkles were scattered across the area this morning. Temps have slowly warmed into the mid 70s with the overcast skies. The chance for showers and thunderstorms starts to increase the closer to the noon hour and into the afternoon.
Afternoon high temps will continue to slowly reach into the low to mid 80s. The best chance for showers and thunderstorms is late afternoon and into the evening hours tonight. The low pressure system centered in Texas is bringing us a southerly flow, which is keeping the moisture high and wrapping around rain showers through the region. We could even be dealing with some lingering rain showers overnight tonight.
Tonight temps are expecting to fall back into the mid and upper 60s with the overcast skies and the chance for showers.
Rain showers start off Saturday and we are looking at another day with morning rain and afternoon thunderstorms. As a cold front to the north starts to push in we could see some storm development ahead of the frontal system.
Saturday we could see heavy rain at time leading to localized flash flooding from a few thunderstorms. Some storms may become strong and produce some strong wind. The risk for severe activity is very low but a storm or two could become strong. We are looking at rainfall totals to be between 1″-2″ across all of West Tennessee by the time we get into Saturday night.
Drier and cooler conditions arrive by Sunday! It’ll be a cool and comfortable day by the end of the weekend with lots of sunshine taking us into the work week next week.
