Second man charged in Memorial Day shooting appears in court

JACKSON, Tenn. — A man charged with attempted murder in connection with a Memorial Day shooting in Jackson was arraigned Tuesday.

Tychicus Joel Randle is facing an attempted first-degree murder charge in the shooting that took place in the 900 block of East College Street.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, told police a man later identified as Randle knocked at his door and told him someone needed to speak to him, according to court papers.

When the man went outside, he was confronted by another man, later identified as David Travis, who shot him in the abdomen, according to police.

Travis reportedly fired another round at the victim as he was trying to get back inside. Police found two spent 9 mm casings outside the residence.

Travis has also been arrested and is also charged with attempted first-degree murder.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

He was later able to identify Travis as the gunman from a photo lineup along with Randle as the man who knocked on his door, according to police.

Randle is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond. His next court date is set for 1:30 p.m. June 23.
