Jackson man charged in multiple Crockett Co. burglaries

CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — For the last three months, break-ins in Crockett County have become a problem.

The problem has been happening as recent as last week, and Monday night there was an arrest that has strong ties to Jackson.

Investigators with the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department say residents would call three to five times a week after returning home from work to their door kicked in and valuables stolen.

“Early April, we started having a rash of burglaries — kicking doors in on residents, taking electronics, guns and jewelry,” Sgt. Allan Gilliland said.

InmatePhotoMonday, police arrested 20-year-old Jamarcus Hudson from Jackson in connection with at least seven burglaries across the county. He will face multiple charges of aggravated burglary, felony theft, felony vandalism and criminal trespassing.

Gilliland said U.S. Marshals assisted in the arrest.

Crockett County deputies say they were able to confiscate stolen items worth thousands of dollars from Affordable Jewelry & Pawn Shop on Old Hickory Boulevard in Jackson. They say those items led them straight to Hudson.

Investigator say although robberies aren’t 100 percent preventable, there are steps you can take to protect your home, such as by installing cameras. InmatePhoto-Profile

“Get those, put them up around your property,” Gilliland said. “Know your neighbors, get to know them, let them know who you are, tell them when you’re going to be out of town.”

Investigators say Hudson has pending burglary charges in other counties as well. He has been booked into the Crockett County Jail. No bond has been set.
