Community prayer service draws hundreds to midtown Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn.-Hundreds come together Wednesday evening in hopes of uniting the community.
The Campbell Street Church of Christ held its first community prayer meeting of July at Alexander Elementary School.
The church began this mission last month, going to different locations across the city each Wednesday, offering free food and fellowship.
A crowd of more than two hundred is estimated to have come out Wednesday night for the community prayer service.
“I think they’ve been looking for something to bring the city together, to bring people together, and, kind of, to unite in prayer for our city and our schools,” said Danny Sorrell, community prayer organizer.
Three more Wednesday night gatherings are planned for this summer. The next one is next Wednesday at University School of Jackson.
The goal is to hold an event like this in all nine of Jackson’s political districts.
