Milan school board approves hiring new director of schools

MILAN, Tenn.-The Milan Special School District’s long search for a new director ended Monday night as the board names a new leader.

With one member absent, the board unanimously approved the hiring of Jonathan Criswell.
Criswell has served as principal of Trenton Elementary School since 2005.

The board said Criswell plans to move to Milan they hope to being contract negotiations with him Tuesday.

“We went through and each board member recommended their first choice. It was six votes for number one, Jonathan Criswell. It was apparent the board was consistent on who they thought was the best for the job,” said Sid Crocker, chairman of the Milan Special School
District board.

The board is scheduled to meet again Thursday to approve a contract for Criswell.
The first day of school for Milan students is August 5.
