Deputy wounded during standoff

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Authorities say a Knox County sheriff’s deputy was shot in the leg during a standoff with a suspect at a mobile home park.

Knox County Sheriff Jimmy “J.J.” Jones says the deputy was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he is in stable condition, according to WATE-TV (http://bit.ly/14lHhzs.)

The shooting occurred Thursday afternoon at the Concord Mobile Home Park.

The sheriff’s office says a suspect ran away from deputies during a traffic stop. Officials say the suspect ran into a trailer and a standoff ensued.

No other deputies were hurt.
