No animals hurt after authorities respond to fire at Tennessee Safari Park

ALAMO, Tenn. — First responders were on-site at a popular attraction Wednesday due to a fire.

According to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department, shortly before noon, the dispatch center received a call regarding a grass fire at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo.

Due to dry conditions and gusty wind, the Sheriff’s Department says all fire departments in the county were requested to respond.

A social media post by the department states that Gibson, Haywood, and Dyer Counties, along with Forestry, TDOT, Crockett County Rescue Squad, and THP were all requested for mutual aid.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the fire involved approximately 40 acres. A portion of Highway 412 was closed due to the fire and limited visibility from smoke.

Authorities confirm the fire was contained and under control around 12:46 p.m., and no animals were hurt.

The Sheriff’s Department shared that this marks the second fire that occurred Wednesday in Crockett County, and reminds that a burn ban is in effect for county residents.
