Local businesses team up to spread joy this holiday season
JACKSON, Tenn.—Precise attitude and precise work. These are the qualities that one local business showed to the community.
Precision Tax Service located on N. Royal Street, hosted their very first toy giveaway.
This event allowed children from Lincoln Elementary School as well as community children to receive toys.
We spoke to Reginald Clark, one of the owners of Precision Tax Service, who stated that the idea is to spread joy to children.
“We don’t want to just get from the community, we want to give as well, so anytime we can spread some joy as well as put our name in the community, it’s a win win,” Clark said.
One of their clients, Dr. Christina Rosenthall donated her book called, You Can Be a Doctor Too, for the kids to read.
“They received toys, from dolls to bikes, to drones to water guns, all kinds of stuff,” Clark said.
Clark stated that anything he would have wanted as a child, they had it to give away.
Lamonte Cunningham, the owner of Eva and Robert Cunningham Entertainment, stated that he has family ties in giving away to Lincoln and the community.
“I want to patronize the school that my father went to and I’ve done some other giveaways with the school before in the past, and we’re going to be like their pie partners, partners in education, so we just want to just give back to the community,” Cunningham said.
Cunningham stated that tickets were given away to the Blues and Soul Ball, which is set for New Years Eve.
These men have two different businesses while living outside of the city, but have worked together to provide the necessary means for kids this holiday.
“Collaboration is everything. So like he said, this is where we’re from. We both live in Memphis now but this is where we are from. So he’s having a concert here, I have a tax service here, so we want to give back right here,” Clark said.
Even more so than toys, these men truly want these kids to succeed.
“We just want to tell the students that no matter what’s going on in school, continue to study and if you need help, ask your teacher because we actually have Lincoln Elementary School teachers here also,” Cunningham said.
Cunningham stated that he was proud at how the teachers took time out on a Sunday to come and support their school kids as well as community children on their day off.
The works of the community never go unnoticed.
Although this is the first time they have done this event, they plan to continue it again soon.
