Ideas for what to do with your real Christmas tree after the holiday season
JACKSON, Tenn. – Don’t toss the Christmas tree to the curb. Here are some alternatives for holiday clean-up once Christmas has come and gone.
These ideas can help to repurpose real Christmas trees for a sustainable start to the new year.
For example, you can make mulch with pine needles or natural feeders with branches.
You can place your tree in the woods.
Did you know dead trees can provide shelter for animals?
Experts say if you burn the tree do it outdoors in a clear area.
“And even if you do it outside for a bonfire, remember pine trees flash over very quickly and burn hot and fast. So take safety in mind if you are going to burn the tree,” said Peter Duncanson, the Senior Director of Training and Product Development for ServiceMaster Restore.
You can also contact a local waste facility to have your tree recycled.
