GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. – Authorities are investigating a suspicious death in Gibson County.

This investigation not only brought the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office to the scene but also the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

We received a tip from a WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News tipster around 4 p.m. Wednesday concerning the discovery of a deceased individual inside a residence located on Griers Chapel Road near Trenton.

Upon arrival, our crews found a perimeter around the house created with police tape.

Agents with the TBI were seen moving in and out of the residence. They were carrying items such as evidence markers and cameras.

TBI agents on the scene say the body of an individual was inside the residence and that foul play was suspected.

As they began to carry out their investigation, we saw through windows, what appeared to be flash photography toward the floor of the home.

Briefly, investigators traveled down Griers Chapel Road and began looking at something on the side of the roadway.

Afterward, we saw them surveying the outside of the residence with flashlights.

We were told by TBI agents that they could not comment on Wednesday but to check back for more information on Thursday.

This is an ongoing investigation.

The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office released a statement:

“The Sheriff’s Office is currently on the scene of a suspicious death on Griers Chapel Road, we’re treating it as a homicide until the evidence we collect tells us different. We have no reason to believe that anyone else living in the area is in any danger. We’ll release more information as the investigation moves forward.”
