How to guard your home against springtime insect invasions

JACKSON, Tenn. — Spring is rejuvenating, but warmer temperatures aren’t just a signal for plants and animals to become more active, they tell insects to start moving too.

This means more insects in homes.

Insects aren’t just a concern because seeing them crawl by can be gross.

A Forbes Home survey found that almost half of respondents have experienced structural damage to their home because of pests.

In winter, leaves can build up around the home and fluctuating temperatures do a number on seals around windows and doors causing new cracks to form.

These changes create an attractive environments for bugs, inviting them in.

One preventative step involves general yard clean up.

“There’s a lot of these free tips that you can do where you’re getting bushes away from your foundation, you’re making sure there’s no debris of leaves and, and sticks that are, that are coming up against the side of your home,” said Matt Rogers CEO of Pestie.

You can also create a bug barrier by using a proactive spray around the outside of your home.
