Researchers urge early screening for cancer detection

JACKSON, Tenn. — Cancer rates are soaring in younger adults, causing for a wake-up call for early detection and screening.

Cancer doesn’t discriminate by age today.

Consider celebrities like Chadwick Boseman, who died from colon cancer; Olivia Munn, who recently underwent a double mastectomy; Ninja, a popular streamer on twitch diagnosed with skin cancer; and Catherine, the Princess of Wales, who is currently being treated for the disease.

All of them were diagnosed before the age of 50.

We sat down with Dr. Donald Karcher, President of the College of American Pathologists, to discuss this occurrence.

“This is actually new information. For women with an average risk of breast cancer, they should now start getting mammograms at age 40. That was actually just announced this week,” said Dr. Karcher.

The College of American Pathologists is emphasizing the importance of early detection, screening, and being vigilant regarding symptoms.
