Holly Bobo suspect Zach Adams to be tried in Hardin County
DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn. — All three suspects in the Holly Bobo case appeared Wednesday morning for a motions hearing.
Judge Creed McGinley said Zach Adams will be the first to go on trial. His trial date is set for April 3 in Hardin County.
“We’ve got Zachary Adams’ motion number 63 for an order for the state to announce which defendant will be tried first,” Judge McGinley said.
So far, all court proceedings have been in Decatur County, but in April the trial will be held at the Hardin County Courthouse. That’s where the jury will meet five and a half days a week. They will be sequestered, and there will be tight security until the trial is over.
“It will be somewhat inconvenient because there will be metal detectors, drug dogs. There may be drug dogs searching the area to make sure it’s safe,” Judge McGinley said.
One of the motions from Zach Adams’ attorneys was to exclude evidence taken from Zach Adams’ home, but Judge McGinley said the state will let Adams’ attorneys know what they plan to use as evidence.
Judge McGinley also complimented both parties about their work.
“I want to commend the parties for what I see — a renewed sense of cooperation,” Judge McGinley said. “I think open discovery between the parties helps in facilitating the case toward resolution and toward trial.”
The suspects are due back in court at 10 a.m. Feb. 1.
Jason Autry and brothers John Dylan and Zach Adams are charged in the disappearance and death of the 20-year-old nursing student.
Bobo disappeared from her Decatur County home on April 13, 2011.
