City Councilman Hosts Anti-Crime Meeting

JACKSON, Tenn.- Just hours after Darvin Manning, Jackson’s sixth homicide victim of the year was shot and killed, Jackson City Councilman Johnny Dodd announced a community meeting for late Tuesday afternoon. A small crowd of concerned citizens and city leaders joined him at City Hall. Dodd, who represents a portion of east Jackson has been an outspoken advocate against crime in the Hub City. He has held crime marches in the past, but is now challenging more than just other city leaders to make a difference. “It’s time to stop pointing fingers. It’s time to take a look in the mirror and look at yourself and ask yourself, ‘what are you doing to help the crime problem in this community,” said Councilman Dodd. Dodd said parents and churches must take a proactive role in mentoring and guiding children at the youngest of ages.
