USDA announces rural business grants
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – The U.S. Agriculture Department has announced rural business grants for six Tennessee organizations.
USDA Rural Business-Cooperative Service Administrator Lillian Salerno announced the grants on Wednesday in Memphis.
Salerno visited Memphis Bioworks Foundation, a recipient of a $45,000 grant being used in partnership with the Crockett Policy Institute to help returning veterans in West Tennessee find jobs.
Also, the South Central Tennessee Development District received $25,056 to buy technological equipment aimed at attracting new businesses to the area.
Hickman County’s Economic and Community Development Association received $6,500 to enhance marketing tools.
The Lafayette-Macon County Chamber of Commerce received $9,076 to repair the Macon County Welcome Center.
The East Tennessee Development District received $15,000 to develop leadership opportunities.
