Cannon to Roar again on Shiloh Battlefield
PRESS RELEASE FROM SHILOH NATIONAL MILITARY PARK
SHILOH, TN – “In honor of July 4th, Shiloh National Military Park will present Keeping Freedom: Civil War and the Birth of a New Nation,” announced Park Superintendent Catherine Bragaw. The program featuring artillery firing demonstrations will be presented by the Shiloh cannon crew on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7. The firing of the park’s reproduction 6- pounder field piece will occur across the street from the park visitor center.

The cannon firing demonstrations will take place on Saturday at 10:00 am, 11:30 am, 2:00 pm, and 3:30 pm, and on Sunday at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 2:30 pm. Each program will last approximately 20-minutes, and interpret the weapons, projectiles, and procedures Civil War artillery crews used during the war.
The park’s visitor center will be open during normal operating hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Americas Parks Store at Shiloh will be open from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm both days.
All programs are free and open to the public.
