Thomas Wilson “Tom” Yates

Thomas Wilson “Tom” Yates, 64, of Union City passed away 4:48 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Harrell Davidson will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday and from 10:00 a.m.until the hour of services Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Bart Orr, Tony Bowen, Jeff Riley, Trevor Riley, Austin Riley, Randy Ursery, Wayne Storey and Justin Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Polsgrove, Eric Spencer, Russ Yates, Brandon Orr, Andy Page, Randall Moore and employees of Vaughn Electric Company.

Tom was born December 22, 1959, in Tiptonville, son of the late Robert Kenneth “Bob” and Margaret Susan (Darnall) Yates. He married Teresa (Riley) Yates March 11, 1978. Tom had been employed at the former Storey Sawmill in Troy as a lumber salesman and retried from Vaughn Electric Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. Tom was an avid baseball fan and never missed a chance to watch his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events. He was a member of Hornbeak Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Teresa Yates of Union City; his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Kayla Yates of Union City; his daughter and son-in-law, Mandy and Eric Spencer of Martin; he was affectionately known as “Daddy Tom” to his six grandchildren, Keaton Yates and Karter Yates both of Union City and Nathan Parker, Chase Spencer, Cate Spencer and Claire Spencer all of Martin; one great granddaughter, Belle Spencer of Martin; two brothers, Ken Yates and Glen Yates and wife Michelle all of Hornbeak; and several nieces and nephews.
