Mother of child that drowned in Hardin County indicted

SAVANNAH, Tenn. — A follow up to a police investigation that involved the drowning of a 4-year-old in Hardin County.

On July 1, we were notified of a child drowning in Indian Creek in Hardin County.

After the drowning, the sheriff’s department launched an investigation.

According to Hardin County Sheriff Johnny Alexander, the child’s mother, Kayla Azahares has been indicted.

The charges are aggravated child abuse and neglect or endangerment.
