Local family seeks assistance after fire destroys their home
HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A local house fire has a family asking for assistance.
On the evening of Wednesday, July 10, Tabatha Foster told us that her husband was resting in his bed.
“It just so happened that we had our dog in the house and she finally threw such a fit and barked enough that it woke him up,” said Tabatha.
Foster said that she was told by the fire department that if her husband would’ve waited five to ten more minutes, he wouldn’t have made it out alive.
“The fire chief believes it was the lithium batteries on the hoverboard and the electric scooter of my daughter,” said Tabatha.
Foster said that her daughter’s hoverboard was a few years old and that she just bought the electric scooter for her this past Christmas.
“Once the fire department started putting water on it. I guess it just really ignited those lithium batteries and they almost never put the fire out,” said Tabatha.
Foster said that her and her family have received plenty of clothes from people and are not lacking in that area.
Foster’s daughter created a site on Facebook where those who would like to assist her could.
The site has an Amazon and Walmart list.
“On the Amazon and Walmart list are beddings and kitchen supplies. Your normal household things that you would start off with–laundry stuff, cleaning supplies, anything like that,” said Tabatha.
Foster said that a man in the community offered them a home for months rent free.
“The same person, him and his family have actually bought us two new bedroom suits,” said Tabatha.
Foster says she greatly appreciates the help of the community so far.
