Olympic Block Party held in Paris… Tennessee!
PARIS, Tenn. — Competition for the summer Olympics is underway in Paris, France.
Even if you’re not competing, you can still get into the Olympic spirit in Paris. Paris, Tennessee, that is.
Tuesday, the city hosted their “Olympic Block Party.”
The event, staged at Eiffel Tower Park, was postponed last Friday due to rain but was rescheduled for Tuesday.
Along with the opening ceremony, there were live DJ’s, food trucks, and live entertainment including live music by Izzy Arthurs.
There was also free admission to the splash park all evening long.
Organizers say this event not only celebrates the Olympic spirit, but also brings the community together.
“Well, when they said the Olympics were gonna be in Paris, we knew immediately we has to capitalize on that and our community. And we’ve had a real fun time lots of folks reaching out from other parts of the state, coming to Paris. Well, if you can’t go to France, just come to Paris, Tennessee,” said Mayor for Paris, Kathy Ray.
Live streaming of the Olympics took place throughout the evening.
