TWRA: Black bear spotted in Obion County

OBION CO., Tenn.—Residents in one West TN county are asked to be on the lookout for a black bear.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency took to social media to raise awareness to residents that a black bear was spotted in the area of Samburg in Obion county.

The organization posted a flier with tips for dealing with black bears and also keeping them wild, not conditioning them to human presence and also not leaving food outdoors for them to consume.

TWRA authorities suggest the following tips:

  • Never feed or approach bears
  • Secure food, garbage, and recycling
  • Remove bird feeders
  • Feed pets indoors
  • Clean grills and smokers
  • Alert neighbors to bear activity
