Mayors partner to proclaim ‘Constitution Week’ in Camden, Benton County
CAMDEN, Tenn. — Mayors in one local county proclaim “Constitution Week” in Camden and Benton County.
The mayors issued a joint statement: “As September 17, 2024 marks the 237th anniversary of its signing, our United States constitution plays an increasingly crucial role in reminding us of our God-given rights as Americans. We must never neglect our duty to defend these rights as we are reminded that at any time, they are only one generation away from being lost. We are proud to have the honor and opportunity to officially recognize this special week in our community.”
An official presentation of this proclamation took place Thursday at the Benton County Courthouse.
“We’ve gone nearly 250 years with the same founding document. This document works, it needs to be cherished, and we’re here today to celebrate it along with Mayor Pafford and Mayor Ward. We appreciate them here on the local level taking the opportunity to honor the constitution of our country,” said Weston Watts, field representative for Tennessee Congressman Mark Green.
Leaders with the Benton County Mayor’s Office say they continually strive to better serve the people of Benton County and to move our community forward for the advancement of the county and its citizens.
