First responders honor those lost on Sept. 11
JACKSON, Tenn.—Local first responders are remembering those lost with every step.
The annual Patriot’s Day Memorial Stair Climb took place at the Jackson Ballpark today.
First responders and community members gathered at the park at 8 this morning to remember those lost in the terrorist acts of September 11th.
The yearly event takes place to honor and remember all the first responders who lost their lives in the line of duty that day.
The climb is open to all local first responders and consists of two thousand two hundred stairs. Organizers say this is symbolic of the 110 stories traveled by first responders at the World Trade Center on 911.
Some of the participants complete the climb in full protective gear.
The special event also offers fun for the family including games, a dunking booth, and vendors on hand.
“I’m just excited for us to be able to continue to host the event and looking forward to it getting bigger and better every year,” said Fire Marshal, Latrell Billingsley.
This is the 3rd year the Jackson Fire Department has hosted this event.
