Memorial held at West TN State Fair honors woman’s 40 years of service

JACKSON, Tenn. — Also at this year’s West Tennessee State Fair, a tribute to one woman who tirelessly gave her time to help youth as part of the fair.

A memorial was held Tuesday afternoon for Loy Crane who spent 40 years helping youth, specifically those in 4-H, prepare for the West Tennessee state fair.

Crane, who died in June, was honored during a special presentation in the exhibit building.

Those who knew Crane tell us about her dedication to the West Tennessee State Fair and area youth.

“We actually got together to eat at the 4-H chicken shack that’s here and we ate every Thursday for all those years, and then she would take us on a tour of all the exhibits and tell us everything about ’em. That’s how dedicated she was to the 4-H and the fair,” said Susan Holloway, supervisor of exhibits for the West Tennessee State Fair.

Crane’s family and fair leaders spoke in honor of her life that left a lasting impression on the community.

There was also an unveiling of pictures of her, honoring her four decades of service.
