Brownsville announced as latest recipient of $50,000 Hometown Grant
BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — One West Tennessee town is the recipient of a major grant.
Thursday, T-Mobile announces Brownsville as one of its latest 25 Hometown Grant recipients.
The $50,000 grant will go towards creating downtown art in the alley, a collection of outdoor public art murals highlighting the musical and cultural heritage of the area.
The project was submitted by Main Street Brownsville, an organization committed to the promotion and preservation of downtown Brownsville through grants and marketing.
“Hopefully by this time next year, we’ll be got to go and we’ll have these murals where everyone can come and visit and just enjoy the beauty of what we’ve created,” said Tom Orr, director for Main Street Brownsville.
To date, Hometown Grants has provided more than $3 million in funding toward small business projects like revitalizing farmers markets, launching business incubators, and improving main streets.
So far, Hometown Grants has provided nearly $300,000 in funding to seven towns across Tennessee.
