LIFELINE Blood Services hosts annual Vein Drain Blood Drive
JACKSON, Tenn. — One event had a ‘spooktacular’ time saving lives with their annual Halloween themed drive. LIFELINE Blood Services held their annual Vein Drain Blood Drive at their Jackson location this Thursday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Melinda Reid, marketing manager for LIFELINE, told us that this is the most anticipated time of the year for donors.
“Donating blood is so impactful for our local patients. We serve 21 counties and 17 hospitals, so we have a big job to do and our annual themed blood drives really help keep our donors coming in every 8 weeks and giving the gift of life,” said Reid.
One donation impacts up to 3 people.
“You can donate blood today at the center here in Jackson and we have our bloodmobile packed out front for any overflow we may have. We want to make sure that we take care of all of our donors in a timely fashion,” said Reid.
She says they are in need of type O blood.
“That is the blood type that’s most ordered by our local hospitals, so if you’re a type O blood, please do not hesitate. Come on in and donate as soon as you can to LIFELINE Blood Services. Our bloodmobile blood drive calendar is on our website, so we always like to remind people about that opportunity to donate blood on a bloodmobile in your community. Jackson State Community College were the winners of this years ‘Battle of the Colleges,'” said Reid.
They were presented a trophy by Reid. The president of the college said they are a healthcare focused institution and always jump on board to save lives when they can.
“We are always happy to jump on board of this battle and win. We donated 65 units and saved 195 lives,” said Carol Rothstein, president of Jackson State Community College.
Each participant received a Chick-fil-A voucher and a t-shirt.
“It is so important that we are all here for each other and something as simple as a few minutes at LIFELINE Blood Services could really impact multiple people,” said Reid.
If you missed your opportunity to donate today, LIFELINE is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The address is 183 Sterling Farm Drive in north Jackson.
