Walmart in Humboldt holds grand reopening ceremony

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — It’s a celebration filled with music, giveaways and the reopening of a store.

All roads led to Walmart in Humboldt where a grand reopening celebration was held Friday on the parking lot. During the celebration, the store’s manager, John-David Hood, gave the American Heart Association a $10,000 check and the Scarlet Rope Project a check for $14,500.

“We partner with the American Heart Association quite often with our company. We were able to give out AED’s to our local school systems and we’re just really proud to be able to be a part of that and to be able to give those out to the kids. Especially if they were to need them in an emergency situation,” said Hood.

He took the time to thank the workers at Walmart.

“Proud of the associates and all of the remodeling people that came to help to get the store the way it is today. I think the store looks great. I really wanted to go for a Christmas theme today, so that’s kind of how the theme of the store is,” said Hood.

Walmart’s market manager for store 146, Adam Steele, told us that giving is not something new to Walmart.

“How we partner is that we partner with any local organization, whether it be school or nonprofits, those that don’t generate income on their own and we try to fill that income-need that way they stay in business for a long time to come for the communities,” said Steele.

Stations were set up where participants could enjoy beef jerky, drinks, chips and more.
