Warmer Weather Ahead And Showers And Storms Approach For Halloween
Monday Evening Update
After a mostly dry and cooler weekend, warmer weather has returned as a warm front lifts in around an area of high pressure. The surface high will remain just to our east which will continue to help usher in south winds and a couple summer like days ahead into the lower to mid 80s. A cold front will move our direction as the warm and more humid air continues to build into the midsouth. Showers and and storms will develop along and approaching cold front and move our direction late Wednesday night with most of the rain holding off to our west until Thursday morning.
Most of the rain will be entering the west Tennessee area by late Thursday morning and continuing into the afternoon and early evening.
Thursday will bring a good chance of rain, mainly through the early afternoon, but a few showers could linger into Halloween night. Right now the 3 day outlook has a severe risk just to our west on Wednesday and ultimately, some of the storms will make it into west Tennessee. A few of them could be strong into Thursday afternoon.
We’ll want to be weather aware, especially Thursday afternoon. At this time, long range models have the bulk of the thunderstorms and heavy rain moving through from around 11 am (west) to around 4 pm ( I-40 area) to around 6 pm near the Tennessee River area. Either way, there will still be some lingering showers beyond then, so take an umbrella if you plan to be out.
The heaviest rain and thunderstorm chances looks to be mainly before 8 pm and the overall chance of encountering rain will be dropping shortly after, so the late night folks stand a little better odds of not being tricked by Mother Nature.
(Rain chances will be higher in the afternoon and early evening as seen below with lower chances towards the night time hours)
We are still a couple of days away so exact timing will likely drift slightly so keep up with StormTeam 7 for the very latest on the weather ahead for Halloween. The weekend will be mostly dry but much cooler around the area. Highs will only be in the upper 60s by Friday! We can expect mid 70s into Saturday and around 80 on Sunday. Another system looks to approach us again next Monday with a few showers.
**Also, Don’t forget to wind the clock back on Saturday night as we’ll “Fall Back” an hour at 2 am Sunday morning gaining an extra hour of sleep**
