Historic First Baptist Church hosts annual Fall Harvest Fest

JACKSON, Tenn. — One local church celebrates their annual fall festival despite the rain.

Historic First Baptist Church had their annual Fall Harvest Festival inside their fellowship hall for community members to enjoy.

“It was a big dramatic change because we were going to set up and do a full trunk or treat outside but we made it work in the inside and it’s beautiful,” said Chelsey Klyce, Children’s and youth pastor.

Although it began raining early Thursday evening, volunteers and church members made a quick adjustment for children to enjoy Thursday’s holiday.

“The door decorations was done by some of our church members. Everyone decorated their own door like they were going to decorate their trunk so it turned out very well,” said Klyce.

Church members thought this was a perfect opportunity for the community to tour inside their church. The door decorations also were a contest.

“It’s for the community and for our church, so we’re looking forward to this every year it’s a community event not just for our church but for everyone that comes out,” said Klyce.

Their goal was 200 guests to receive a grant that would help with future funding of their fall festivals.

“Yes, this is a community event, not just for our church family but we are a church who welcomes always. We’re inviting everybody from the community to come join us not only on tonight but, we’re here on Sundays and Wednesdays as well,” said Klyce.

Along with candy, attendees were able to receive a bite to eat and games to enjoy including a cake walk.

“We have some tic-tac-toe, we have Bible matching, we have the cookie monster game, the Bluey game. These games were created by volunteers they are very creative,” said Klyce.
