Fatally injured window cleaner is identified

DANDRIDGE, Tenn. (AP) – Officials have identified the man who was fatally injured when a hydraulic lift dropped off an embankment in Dandridge, throwing him 60 feet.

Jefferson County Sheriff G.W. “Bud” McCoig says 31-year-old Justin Bass of Knoxville died at University of Tennessee Medical Center.

McCoig told the Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/13DtKb0 ) that Bass was a self-employed window cleaner who was using the bucket to work on a house while another man operated the lift from the ground.

The newspaper said the operator cut the machine off, and the brakes wouldn’t stop it. McCoig said Bass was thrown out of the bucket and landed on rocks, suffering severe head injuries. He said the operator, whose name wasn’t released, had some minor cuts and scratches.

McCoig said the incident Saturday was accidental.
