Local group hosts ‘Parade to the Polls’
JACKSON, Tenn.–One group of residents march to encourage others to vote blue.
Parade to the Polls was held this morning at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson.
The event started just after 10 and was hosted to encourage others to head to the polls.
Organizers of the event included some members from the Society for African American Cultural Awareness (SAACA) along with Latarsha Hannahuff, Vice President of the local Democratic Party.
Other supporters were also invited to join in the parade.
Participants set up their vehicles adorned with flags, wearing political tees, and ready to offer information and support to educate others on the importance of voting.
“It’s nice to see that people are willing to spend part of their beautiful afternoon doing this together. That’s to send a message that yeah, Democracy should be celebrated. Certainly preserved and protected,” said Sarah Freeman, Democratic Candidate for U.S. Congress District 8.
The last day to vote is Tuesday, November 5.
