Madison County celebrates new D.A.R.E.-certified officers committed to youth safety

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE MADISON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE:

Madison County, TN – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that two of their School Resource Officers, William Haley from Pope Elementary and Rebecca Hutson from Thelma Barker Elementary, have successfully completed the two-week D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program.

In recognition of her exceptional commitment, Deputy Hutson was also awarded the prestigious “Spirit of D.A.R.E.” award at the program’s conclusion.

The graduation ceremony, led by Sgt. Kasey Fitts, D.A.R.E. Coordinator from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, was held at Winfree Bryant Middle School. Families, friends, and colleagues gathered to celebrate SROs from across the state of Tennessee who achieved their certifications.

This specialized training provides officers with enhanced skills to educate and guide students on the importance of resisting drugs, gangs and violence. The D.A.R.E. program fosters trust and open communication between students and law enforcement, helping officers serve as trusted mentors. Students gain a new perspective on law enforcement officers as allies, helping to bridge the gap and build a safer, more connected community.

Please join us in congratulating Deputies Haley and Hutson for their dedication to the safety and well-being of our youth. Their commitment exemplifies the values of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and we are thrilled to have them as part of our D.A.R.E. program.
