TEDC announces 2024 Legacy Award recipient

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Tennessee Economic Development Council has announced it’s newest Legacy Award recipient.

This award is offered in recognition of an esteemed figure in economic development who’s work has left a profound impact on the profession and the communities they serve.

Dr. Sharon Younger is only the tenth person to receive the Legacy Award since its inception. Dr. Younger has cultivated a distinguished career in economic development for more than 30 years, with a focus on improving the economic conditions of rural communities, particularly in Tennessee.

The TEDC is a statewide organization for both public and private sector professionals involved in economic development.

“The Legacy Award was chosen among my group of peers that are in that professional group and I was honored with that, I guess, due to my long career in economic development,” said Dr. Younger.

The TEDC has provided professional development opportunities for its more than 425 members and works with state officials to maintain an attractive business environment in Tennessee.
