JACKSON, Tenn. – A good Samaritan helping a friend with car trouble lost his life on Thursday. He, his wife and his friend were all hurt when another truck slammed into the back of the stranded vehicle. Bonnie Schenatzki is in a lot of pain. She is still in the hospital after having surgery on her broken arm due to the wreck. After losing her husband Thursday morning, she is now suffering from a new kind of pain. She added that she sensed it the night before that her husband was not going to survive much longer. “I just tried to start remembering the good things we had done together, the places we had been and so forth,” said Schenatzki. Tuesday morning, Schenatzki said her husband Michael saw their friend on the side of the road with car trouble, he pulled around and parked in front of his friends van to help him. “All of a sudden I look up and I saw this white truck and I said, “Oh Lord” and bam,” said Schenatzki. According to police, the truck struck the van from behind, hitting the Schenatzkis and their friend, Michael, who was working under the hood of the van ended up under the vehicle. “He was hurt real bad, but his blood pressure had bottomed out and that’s what took him was his blood pressure,” added Schenatzki. She is grateful she was able to say goodbye to her husband, Thursday morning before he passed away. “I felt loved and cared for and it was pretty remarkable.” Neighbors to the Schenatzkis admired Michael’s helping nature and said he was a Good Samaritan to them too, and always finding a way to help if he could. According to police, the incident is still under investigation.
