Local sorority hosts an event in honor of World AIDS Day.
JACKSON, Tenn.—One local sorority partners with TNCHAPS for a special event in honor of World AIDS Day.
The Jackson TN Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc teamed up with TNCHAPS to host an event bringing awareness to AIDS and fostering education and support in the fight against it.
This free event was held at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson beginning at 3 this afternoon.
The seminar featured a panel of experts who gladly answered audience questions.
This discussion was set up to not only share vital information about AIDS but also to reduce the stigma surrounding it.
Thespecial guest moderator for the event was Matt Marshall, President and CEO, for United Way of West Tennessee.
Sorority members wanted to support this important cause because Black women are most often affected, making up 52% of estimated new infections.
Today’s event also offered access to testing resources and other ways to prioritize women’s health care needs.
