Lane College provides resources, free testing for World AIDS Day
JACKSON, Tenn. — A special event was held at Lane College to raise awareness and learn more about HIV/AIDS.
World AIDS Day is every year on December 1, however, since that was a Sunday, Lane College waited until Monday morning to host their annual event.
There were many vendors in attendance who were able to share their knowledge on testing and HIV prevention. They also provided free testing to the public at this event.
Fisher Smith, the director of campus life at Lane College, says that this is one of the most recognized international health days and is a key time to reflect on prevention, treatment and care. If you were not able to attend, you will have another chance here in a few months.
“The next big event will be February 7, which is black HIV/AIDS awareness day. We do the some thing again. We offer testing and different resources to the community so our community is aware of all the consequences as it relates to HIV and AIDS,” said Smith.
This event is always open to anyone who wants to attend.
