Bethel Springs First Baptist Church presents live nativity scene
MCNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn.— One local church brings to life a scene from the Bible to celebrate Christmas.
First Baptist Church of Bethel Springs had their first ever live nativity for everyone to enjoy, the reason for the season.
“I just think with the busyness of Christmas and Santa Claus and the elf of the shelf. We wanted to do something that brought back the true meaning of families and brought back a place to go to to explain to their kids why we do celebrate Christmas,” says Jacey Ross, live Nativity coordinator.
Members of the church and community were able to walk up to the scene and listen to the story of Christmas.
“As you come through there will be a seven minute play script read aloud and you can enjoy your time as the scene live as you listen to the Christmas story,” she adds.
This live Nativity was just in time for young children in the community to learn more.
“We have a ‘Bethel Kids’ program. Where we bus kids from the school over here, have dinner and Wednesday night service for the kids. So this is the last service that meet together before they go on Christmas break. So we wanted it to be available for all the kids that come on Wednesday nights as well.”
There was also handmade goodies being handed out to those that attended.
“Can visit some people from our outreach team and they’ll have Christmas ornaments and Christmas candy with apple cider available. Then you’ll be taken in a group over to the nativity scene on the right side of the church,” says Ross.
First Baptist church also invites you to their candle lite service.
“Our Christmas service will be on December 22, we have breakfast available at 9 am. Sunday school at 9:30 there is a class for all ages, if you find a church member they’ll let you know which class you can go to,” Ross says.
Their live Nativity scene featured many animals and was 2 hours-long for people to come by and learn the story of Jesus’ birth.
