‘Battle of the Burbs’ returns to Jackson neighborhoods

JACKSON, Tenn.—It’s a battle to see whose holiday spirit shines the brightest.

The Jackson Juniorettes Service League hosted its Battle of the Burbs Saturday evening. The contest began at 5:30 in the evening and continued until 8 at night.

This year’s contest includes new competitors, Wrights Mill versus the defending champs Wyndchase.

Two individual cash prizes are available. This includes a first prize “Fan Fave Winner” of $250 dollars voted on by the individuals in person and a second $250 prize for “The Best In Show” voted on by the Juniorettes.

There is also Santa and a Hot Cocoa Cove set up on Pemberton Cove in Wyndchase with proceeds benefiting The Star Center of Jackson.

“It’s basically a competition between the houses for who has the best light setup and people can vote for a dollar online and they can come get hot chocolate and see Santa Clause,” said Madeline Eldridge, Vice President of Jackson Juniorettes.

The Jackson Juniorettes is a service organization of young women in grades 9th-12th from both public and private schools in the area.

This is the third year for this special event to take place.
