Christmas tree recycling initiative returns to Hub City
JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson and Keep Jackson Beautiful are announcing the return of Chipping of the Greens, a Christmas tree recycling initiative.
Starting today, through Thursday, January 9 at 4 p.m., residents can drop off their live Christmas trees to be picked up and taken to the fire training center to be turned into mulch.
Mulch will be available for public pick-up on Saturday, January 11, starting at 9:30 a.m.
“This year we’ve four different locations within the City of Jackson. One location — North Park, another location is Liberty Gardens, another location will be Malesus Park, which is our newest location drop off, and the last location is here at the fire department training center in the south parking lot,” said Kenneth Cummings, Communications Director for the City of Jackson.
Residents who would like their Christmas trees picked up can call the health and sanitation department by dialing 3-1-1 or make a new request for “Christmas tree pick-up” via the Ready 3-1-1 app.
The City of Jackson asks that, before you request pick up, you remove all decorations from your tree. Artificial trees will not be accepted.
