JMCSS hosts its Winter Board Retreat

JACKSON, Tenn.—Well schools are typically closed on the weekend, but Jackson Academic Steam Academy was a place of learning Saturday for school board members and district leaders in the Jackson-Madison County School System.

JMCSS held its annual Winter Board Retreat Saturday in North Jackson.

The morning began with team-building activities to set the foundation for the entire retreat.

School board members participated in strategic plan discussions as district leaders from multiple departments made presentations.

Additionally, State Representatives Johnny Shaw and Chris Todd, and State Senator Ed Jackson were also in attendance to discuss legislative matters impacting education.

“By us working together, we’re all pulling the same direction. With that it’s showing the success we’re already having as a school district. I’m just so grateful for the leadership of Dr. King in pulling all this together,” said Harvey Walden, JMCSS Board Chairman.

The goals for the retreat included learning, deep engagement, and a clear direction for districtwide goals.
