80 students graduate from Jackson Police Dept.’s DARE program
JACKSON, Tenn. — Eighty students at Arlington Elementary School graduated Tuesday from the Jackson Police Department’s DARE program.
The fourth graders were the first graduates of the department’s Drug Abuse Resistance Education program in several years, according to a release from the Jackson Police Department.
They were also DARE instructor Officer Curtis Cozart’s first graduating class.
The DARE curriculum is designed to teach kids about the problems and challenges associated with drugs, according to the release.
Cozart said he recently became aware of the need to add other issues including bullying to his curriculum.
Police Chief Julian Wiser re-instituted the department’s DARE program.
Several members of the Jackson Police Department’s command staff including Chief Wiser were there for the graduation.
