‘Diabetes Undone’ workshop coming to Jackson

PRESS RELEASE FROM JACKSON SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH:

Over 49% of US adults have diabetes or pre-diabetes according to the CDC.  Both of these conditions increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and other complications.  The prevailing medical paradigm teaches that diabetes is a chronic, incurable disease, and patients surrender to the idea that they will struggle with the disease the rest of their lives.  In our fast-paced profit-driven healthcare system, providers often don’t have adequate time to educate patients about how to be healthy. All too often, patients are treated for symptoms while the underlying causes of disease are not addressed.

Life & Health Network, a non-profit organization, has produced Diabetes Undone, a research-tested intervention in reversing Type 2 diabetes and other lifestyle diseases.  The Diabetes Undone curriculum includes a cookbook, workbook, and informational videos and is being offered to the community in a group setting Mondays and Thursdays for 4 weeks beginning March 24 at  the Jackson Seventh-day Adventist Church at 1902 Campbell St. (at the corner with Ridgecrest.)  Classes begin at 6:15 pm and end at 7:45. Participants will learn how to form new habits and make better choices based on increased knowledge, skills, and encouragement.  They will be empowered to optimize their nutrition and exercise, and they will be  given other powerful lifestyle strategies which also help combat heart disease, obesity, cancer, autoimmune disease, and many other lifestyle-related health conditions.

Dr. Wes Youngberg, DrPH , video presenter and author of the book Goodbye Diabetes, has been working with diabetics for 35 years to help patients experience dramatic health improvements, avoid complications, and sometimes even reverse the condition.

He is joined by renowned dietician Brenda Davis, RD.  2 food samples will be served/night and demos will be shown.  The price of $35 includes a digital workbook and cookbook.  Hard copy may be ordered if desired.  This is a non-profit event sponsored by the Health Ministries Dept. of the Jackson Seventh-day Adventist Church.

An information and registration session will be offered Monday, March 17, both at Noon and at 5;30 pm at the church.  Or you can leave a message or text Susan Harboldt at 731-225-6432.
