Grand Junction continues cleanup efforts, relief fund announced

GRAND JUNCTION, Tenn. — The City of Grand Junction in Hardeman County continues cleanup efforts following the damage they received from a tornado last week.

Their boil water notice was lifted two days ago and municipal court proceedings were postponed Thursday.

Currently, you can still see considerable damage in the area as hundreds of trees have fallen down. Quite a few buildings, churches, and houses also have damage.

The focus now is cleaning up debris, which mainly consists of cutting up fallen or damaged trees.

The city’s Facebook page has been keeping people in the loop on very important information, one of which is the tornado relief fund. All proceeds from purchases of these hats and shirts from Dirty Cotton Memphis will go directly to the tornado relief fund.

Also posted Thursday was a thank you for all of the donations, prayers, and overall support over the past week. They said there has been an abundance of aid from individuals, businesses, communities, and groups.

In an update to that post, the City said that they are no longer accepting donations at this time. This is because they currently have many items still at local churches. If there are specific items that might be needed later on, they will post another update.
